Sorry, I’m Not Sorry!

I’d like to offer insight into how astrology can work for someone on a personal level and how taking a closer look at your individual energy can be helpful in managing a life.

If you’re not familiar with the different signs, houses, and their meanings, don’t worry about it for this post. If you want more in-depth reading on each sign, check out my Reference Page on

Because it’s the chart I know best, I’ll use two interacting examples from my natal: Leo ...

Sound Familiar?

They live a lifestyle with which you disagree.

You think what they do is wrong, unnatural, in league with the devil, and against your religion.

You’ve heard stories of their predatory ways and want laws that will protect you and your children from them.

You believe their practices and behaviors surely corrupt the sanctity, purity, and downright safety of your lives.

But you’ve heard of someone who does it. You know a neighbor’s friend’s family member lives like that, even though no one really talks ...

Nothing but the Truth

I recently posted this picture on’s Facebook page:Seaton Road Accident

It has been several days and I am still laughing every time I think of it – it’s right up there with a favorite joke of mine: A three-legged dog walks into a bar and says, “I’m lookin’ for the man who shot my paw.”dog-cowboy-hat-480x360

Gets me every time. :)Continue Reading →

Quiet Review

This summer I read the book Quiet by Susan Cain. It has appeared on the NY Times Best Seller List and is sold at Target, so there’s a good chance a few of you have read it, too, or at least heard of it.

The essence of her message is the identification and explanation of introversion and extroversion. Her focus is on liberating introversion from the current society-inflicted interpretation as a bad or undesirable characteristic first by validating it’s existence and ...

Calling All Dreamers: Neptune & Mercury in Retrograde

Neptune in Pisces went retrograde Monday, 6/9, at 3:49pm EDT, and will remain so all summer and most of fall until 11/15/2014. Retrograde simply means that a planet’s direction appears to reverse, but of course it doesn’t really – it is an effect produced by that planet’s speed and position relative to Earth. And isn’t our experience of anything about perspective? How we see it more so than how something actually is?

A Little More on Mars Direct…

Mars in Libra went direct yesterday after being retrograde from March 1, 2014-May 19, 2014.

Mars is the ruler of Aries, the ancient Roman god of war, anger, lust, and drive. While retrograde, we saw a shift of those energies within us to the mental aspects – a toning down of outward physical expressions and an increase of holding in and subverting our anger and initiative. That’s ok. That can be a really good balance to always projecting those things outside ...

Syncing with the Universe

“You cannot do yoga.  Yoga is your natural state.  What you can do are yoga exercises, which may reveal to you where you are resisting your natural state.”  ~Sharon Gannon

Love that quote. Spot on. Just saw it today (thanks, Jenny B :) )!download (2)

This post is a little different; it’s written to our higher minds. It might seem kind of ...

Fight the Good Fight?

victoryWe live in a culture obsessed with conquering…defeating the enemy…rising victoriously to the top of the heap.

I love the invigoration of a motivational message, song, experience, or movie…but life is so much more than that. A life lived fully isn’t one focused only on the masculine virtues. There is value in the quieter, unassuming aspects and in the supporting roles – those who make up the heap on which the “victor” ...

The Blessedly Bored

How lucky are we? We are blessed with boredom.

And it’s about time we see it for what it is.

Boredom has long had a stigma attached to it – you know the saying about idle hands and the devil’s workshop – but I believe that taking away the negative connotation will do us some good. I think the last thing we need is to berate ourselves for having the feeling; there’s no sense in compounding the negativity. A lot of us try to get ...

Love (Yourself) Songs

My kids sometimes ask what songs we’re listening to are about.

As a yoga teacher in a studio where we play a little of everything but a lot of top 40-type songs, I make playlists fairly often and test them by playing them while I cook, drive, or am doing things around the house. That in addition to the rest of the music I play means my kids hear a lot of different sounds.

So once in a while, one or more ...
