Sometimes it feels like our culture is drowning in platitudes.
Or maybe I just feel that way after I’ve been on Facebook.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the inspirational ones that remind me to focus, move forward, appreciate the beauty in life, and breathe.
It’s those other ones I can do without – the ones that always seem to focus on the “haters” or all those people out there who are jealous of you, want you to fail, or gossip about you. I’m not going to post any; I imagine you’ve seen them.
They just seem…out of balance. You can’t fight darkness with more darkness and expect it to go away. Every time I see one of those sayings it makes me cringe because I feel like, if you want less of that in your life, then why are you focusing on it even for as long as it takes to post the Pinterest picture?
That, and it sounds like whining.
So let’s get back to the beauty – the love. Let’s realize nobody really thinks that much about anyone but themselves, including you and me. That’s not a bad or even selfish thing; I think we’re designed that way so that we each have the opportunity to develop ourselves by honing our talents and gifts so that we can offer them back to the world.

We are each blessed with our own unique perspective that gives our souls the foundation from which we can grow, mature, and evolve. It’s up to us to bring the focus back to our own paths and get over the idea of pleasing everyone or being upset enough to pout publicly or privately when we inevitably don’t. And trying to prevent experiencing any backlash, ridicule, or snubbing from others sounds like a boring and terribly stressful way to live.
I vote for lightening up, letting go, living our individual truths, and raising our energetic vibrations until we glow.
So how about some more love?
